Hut and Grounds – THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who came to help and dedicated their time and energy to the Hut and Grounds Working Party on Saturday morning. With everyone’s hard work, we accomplished everything we had planned:
- Stripped, chopped, pruned, and removed bags upon bags of weeds from around the entire area, especially along the hedgerows planted by the Group last year.
- Installed compost bins.
- Sorted and stacked the woodpiles, ready for the various evening fires.
- Fitted a new key security box.
- Power washed the sink.
- Hammered in any loose nails in the cladding.
- Cleaned out the gutters.
- Checked and restored the Patrol boxes, making sure each contains good set of basic cooking equipment.
- Organized and tidied the kit store, making everything more accessible and easier to find.
A huge thanks again to those who came for giving up your time. Special thanks to Hannah for keeping us fuelled with tea, coffee, and doughnuts.
Extra acknowledgment to the young people from right across our age range – Ellis, Joshua, Gilbert, Ben, Owen, Lenny, Django, Arlo, Stanley, Alex, Sebastian, Thomas – who got stuck into a whole range of tasks. We were really impressed with your helpfulness and perseverance.
You may have also noticed the fantastic new door fitted to the hut—big thanks to Andy for arranging this!
Just a reminder, the hut is available for hire, and the fees help raise valuable funds for the group. If you know anyone looking for a venue, please don’t hesitate to recommend it – https://6th-lewes-scouts.org.uk/hire-our-hut/ or email Anna (Stanley): hutbookings@6th-lewes-scouts.org.uk
