Beaver Sleepover Success

On a wet and windy weekend at the start of March, 9 intrepid Beavers, 6 grown-ups and Rabbit (our Young Leader Issy) braved a sleepover at Hillside Scout Camp. For many this adventure was their first taste of sleeping away from home without their parents.

Lucca Browne takes up the story:

We went to a Beavers camp because it is something I have never done before. It was very rainy when we arrived but Rabbit was very kind and showed me to my cabin. I unpacked my stuff and then we went to the hall to make some Robin Hood hats. I was also given an activity sheet to do over the weekend. We went back to our cabins after having a play then got into our pyjamas and read the enormous crocodile.

After the story, we went back to our cabins and read some comics and books before lights out – but we found it hard to sleep!

In the morning, we got up, brushed our teeth and went out to do some den building. Then we had fun playing Robin Hood hide and seek. Two people were the Sheriff and the rest were Robin Hood’s Merry Men. They had Sheriffs found them they would have to go to prison. We did a fun coding activity afterwards where I was the first one to guess the code and got cupcakes. This made me happy.

Then we went back to the main hall and played some card games when we went home. My favourite part of the trip was the Robin Hood hiding game, because we had a very good hiding spot at the back of the forest and nobody found us!
